Wing Feather Veneers on Needle Holder Key Rings

I've been having fun with cane scraps, and I like the new Wing Feather look I've invented as a result. I used some of the veneers as decor for Secret Compartment key rings lately.

The textured base clay contrasts nicely with the smooth veneer, and they feel nice in your hand. Also, they look pretty, if I do say so myself!

I've listed these and more in my Etsy shop this week - I hope you'll take a look! These make such good gifts for quilters and sewers because they make great Needle Holders that I've offered a special price - $1.00 off EACH key ring purchased for a purchase of 4 or more! You can't beat that, even with drumsticks. LOL. Have a good week, friends. :)

Northern Nevada Cloud Formations June 30, 2012

There were some unusual cloud formations in Reno, Nevada last evening and since I was driving through that area I was able to get a few photos. There were clouds that looked like space ships or tornados, and then there were also long hedges of clouds with interesting twists and swirls in them, that allowed for very dramatic lighting as the sun went down.

(Edited to add: I learned that these are called "Lenticular" clouds because of their lens shape - thanks to Jodie Tice Lawrosky for sending me the info about that!)

I was driving so wasn't able to get photos of the most dramatic of them, unfortunately, when they were in the best light. Still, these are worth seeing - I like to think of them as God's art practice for the day. :)

As I drove further and was near the banks of Lake Tahoe, the sun was setting and I was able to take these photos of a couple more colorful and interesting formations that include a small section of the lake:
